A Unique Luxury Villa in Kilifi
Impeccable Service, Incredible Ocean Views, Large Pool
Our personal review (visited 2011)
This magnificent luxurious villa displays everything a villa of this caliber
requires. On entering the heavy wooden gate, a short drive brings you to the
entrance of the villa. When I walked through the entrance hall, I was
stunned by the architecture and display of the white and wooden staircases
that winds in an "S" shape 2 stories above. Walking into the spacious
entrance and open plan living and dining area, again I was taken aback by
the splendid views through the open French windows, the infinity pool and
views of the entrance of Kilifi Creek and the Indian Ocean beyond. I was so
attracted by the splendor I saw that I missed to notice that the first
infinity pool was a tenth in size compared to the large pool that lay below.
Beyond the larger pool is a very well maintained tropical garden displaying
colourful flowers, cacti, palms, bushes and trees. To the right and to the
left of the small infinity pool lays plenty of very comfortable cushion
lined Lamu style furniture for lounging and reading. I knew that I had found
a real magnificent gem on the Kenyan Coast.
In the living and dining area stands a 4 meter large wooden table that
comfortably seats 12 people. The dining area leads into a large, fully
equipped kitchen, splendidly fitted with work-tops, shelves made from local
wood and to conquer any passionate chef, a large wooden island with a sink;
a true work of art made my local craftsman.
To the side of the living room lies a large, spacious double bedroom with
en-suite bathroom.
On the first floor, the staircase/bridge winds in the air through the
hallway leading to 2 spacious double bedrooms with very large en-suite
bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes. Walking towards the third bedroom, the
corridor guided me onto an open veranda with ample lounge beds and
beautifully decorated stone built sofas, all covered in soft colourful
cushions. The third bedroom, as the latter two, had ample space and a very
large en-suite bathroom. Every bedroom has views of the pool, gardens, the
splendor of the entrance of Kilifi Creek as well as the Indian Ocean. From
each privately allocated lounge area designated for every room, we could
observe the fishing boats and Dhows that were sailing into the creek from a
day's fishing. A true tranquil and poetic memory.
To magnify this unique setting the owners have created a breathtaking roof
terrace that boasts the full and complete view over tropical trees and
forests to the west and of course the dominant ocean to the east. The roof
terrace, as with all open spaces in this villa, is furnished with stone
built lounges, decorated with soft pillows and cushions. Whilst absorbing
the atmosphere as the sun was setting, one of the staff discretely, without
my request, brought me a cold sundowner to quench my thirst which truly
completed this experience. A small gesture of incredible sufficient and at
tentative personnel.
To the left of the main villa stands a one bedroom "cottage". On entering
the cottage, is a large spacious living room furnished with stone build
sofas with soft cushions and to the right up a small flight of steps, an
open plan fully equipped kitchen and dining area for 2. The kitchen and
living room boasts views of the creek entrance and Indian Ocean. The living
room leads through a set of French doors to a well furnished terrace, again
with splendid views of the sea. From the living room is a flight of stairs
that takes you to the 1st floor and large double en-suite bedroom, again
with all its splendor facing the ocean.
Another small cottage consisting of a large bedroom with en-suite bathroom is located on the property. It is furnished with two Lamu (single) beds that can be put together if you wish.
