You can't get closer to the Beach!

Our personal review

Vipingo is a an up and coming location just half an hours drive north of Mombasa. The Ridge, a private setting with a 36 hole Championship Golf Course, with all the housing and amenities on the way. An air strip with daily flights from Nairobi and a wonderful restaurant overlooking the coast to the East and the sunset to the West, has woken up this rather dormant area lined with exceptional beaches. The coral reef protects and provides fresh sea food, the latter being offered by local fishermen as they pass by with their daily catch.

It is difficult for me to be objective about the beach house because I actually lived there more than 20 years ago. Meanwhile it has changed owner and has undergone lots of improvement. It is a rather rudimentary accommodation, but so far, unbeatable in beach proximity. In fact, it is built ON the sand with the waves of spring tide licking at the edge of the property. The sound of the waves breaking on the beach during high tide will undermine every thought of yours and at night, the hypnotizing intervals of the waves will paramount your dreams.

Based on the fact that you will hardly spend any time indoors anyhow, the pivot point is the outdoor sitting area, the sun beds, the garden and the beach bar, all lining around a wonderful open space of pure white beach sand on the property itself. Old trees all over the gardens not only protect you from exposure to neighboring properties but also the main house and pool area in case they are rented separately.

The interior consists of a kitchen, dining area and a lounge area in cheerful summer colours. Parallel to the beach, a corridor leads to the 3 bedrooms and at the end of the corridor, there is a bathroom and an additional WC. One of the bedrooms also has a sink in the bedroom itself and a shower as well as a WC en-suite. The bedrooms are simple but tidy and cheerful in choice of colours.

Hidden away in a remote corner of the garden, is a tennis court for your enjoyment.

Together with the golf course at The Ridge and another golf course in reasonable driving distance, this property is ideal for a family or group of friends that enjoy the odd sportive challenge whilst the rest of the group may prefer to relax by the beach or pool.

In the beach-house the bedrooms benefit from the sea breeze which blows gently most of the time. They have fans when additional air is needed. The beach house is ideal for children. They can get lost beach combing, making sand castles or exploring the marine life with a snorkel. When they are bored with the sea they can flop in the pool.
